Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has revealed their mission is to win the remaining two Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League matches in a bid to finish in the top three.

The Kisii-based Glamour Boys, who are currently sitting fifth in the 18-team league table, will be in Machakos County on Sunday facing table leaders Police, who need only a draw to be crowned league champions for the first time in their history.

The law enforcers are leading the table on 61 points, and a draw against Tore Bobe will ensure they reach an unassailable 62 points, meaning even if second-placed Gor Mahia, who are the defending champions win their remaining two games, including their final fixture against Police, on Sunday, June 22, they can manage to reach 61 points.

“We have done enough preparation for the Police game, and all we know is we have six points from the remaining matches, which we want to take to finish the season. We want to finish the season on high,” Okidi told Flashscore.

“We were in the title race until we stumbled against Mara Sugar, but now we want to give our fans a second-place finish. It is in our reach, we only need to do the necessary and win the remaining matches. We need to give the fans something to smile about at the end of the season, and for us, the focus is on the two games, and the next game is against Police. It will be a cup final game for us.

“We are confident with the way the players have been training during the FIFA international break, we are heading to Nairobi to come back with three points.”

Police and Shabana have so far met eight times, with the law enforcers registering four wins, Shabana picking two wins and two matches ending in a draw. Last season, the first meeting ended in a 1-1 draw at Shabana’s backyard before Police edged them out 1-0 in the reverse fixture at Police Sacco Stadium.

Shabana, who won the first round meeting 1-0 at Gusii Stadium, can reach 58 points if they manage to beat Police and win their final game of the season.
