On the other hand, Shalulile stands head and shoulders above the rest as the PSL’s all-time leading scorer. The Brave Warriors star broke a record Siyabonga Nomvethe had kept for many years.
Now, the PSL duo will take their chase for personal glory to their home country. They have been nominated for Professional Shining Star in the Diaspora category for the Namibia Annual Sports Awards 2025. There are three nominees in the category including cyclist Vera Looser.
According to the awards manual, the categories recognizes an athlete, coach, umpire/referee or technical official (but not administrators) with exceptional performance and who has during the Awards qualifying period.
To qualify for a nomination in the category, a sports person must have ‘consistently performed in foreign terrain against top professionals, been a force to reckon with accolades in foreign terrain, has been consistently a significant member of the first team or sport individually.’
Further shortlisted candidates for the award must have ‘produced a world-class performance in an international arena, continuously set world records, displayed reasonable code of conduct and be a Namibian citizen.’
Shalulile is vying for a record-extending fourth award after having won it in 2021, 2022 and 2023 while Hotto had his turn for the accolade in 2024.
A panel for the Namibia Sports Committee will hold the awards ceremony at Queen’s Hall, Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre, in the Oshana Region on November 22, 2025.
