Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs great Siyabonga Nomvete believes striker Peter Shalulile has what it takes to break his Premier Soccer League record.
The Namibian striker, who currently features for PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the Betway Premiership, scored his 100th goal as the Brazilians edged out AmaZulu 2-0 to move to 127 goals, two less Nomvete, who had scored 129 during his playing career.
“I’m saying nothing will stop that (to break the record) because he’s a hard worker, he’s been pushing so hard, he’s been fighting to be successful in this country,” said Nomvete, who also played for Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu, as quoted by SABC Sports.
“Remember, he’s not a South African player, he’s a foreign player but he performs, I believe because anywhere you go, even me if I go to Europe, I’m a foreigner myself. I need to perform and make my name big there but I won’t complain.
“He’s doing well at Sundowns; whatever happens will happen. I can’t stop that because I’m a football fan myself. He has a lot of opportunities to do whatever he can; nothing will stop that, he’s a hard worker, he can continue and go further and further up until someone will come and break another record.”
With the PSL still going on, Shalulile has a great opportunity to break the record.
