Shamirah Nalugya excited for new chapter at Dynamo Brest

Uganda Crested Cranes star Shamirah Nalugya has expressed excitement and determination after sealing a one-year deal with Dynamo Brest following her departure from FC Minsk.

Nalugya joins the Brest-based side as a free agent after the expiry of her short-term contract at Minsk, where she enjoyed a highly impressive debut campaign.

Nalugya scored seven goals and registered 13 assists in just 13 appearances, quickly establishing herself as one of the league’s standout performers.

Reacting to the move, Nalugya shared her enthusiasm on social media, posting: “Happy to join Dynamo Brest and ready to work together to achieve the very best this season. LET’S GO БРЕСТ.”

The former Kampala Queens forward heads into the new challenge full of confidence, eager to make an impact with her new club as they target improvement in the upcoming campaign.

Dynamo Brest finished fifth last season with 52 points and will be aiming higher when the new season kicks off.

Nalugya’s journey has seen her develop through local sides Isra Soccer Academy and Kawempe Muslim before making her mark abroad. She also becomes the second Ugandan to feature in the Belarusian top flight after Joan Nabirye’s stint at FC Minsk.

Founded in 2021, Dynamo Brest is based in the city of Brest and is coached by Mikhnavets Aliaksandr. The club competes in the Maxline Belarusian Women’s League, which features 11 teams, with Dinamo Minsk (BSUPC) entering the new season as defending champions.

For Nalugya, the move represents a fresh start and judging by her reaction, she’s ready to hit the ground running.
