Shandre Campbell scores match winner for first Club Brugge senior goal

After spending most of last season with the reserve team, South African rising talent Shandre Campbell announced himself on Saturday with his first goal for Club Brugge’s senior team in spectacular fashion.

The 20-year-old product of the academy of defunct SuperSport United unleashed a blast from distance that benefited from a deflection on its way in to give Club Brugge a dramatic late winner in their 1-0 victory at Zulte Waregem. Campbell’s strike came in second half stoppage time to make it three wins from four league games so far for Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League.

Campbell had come on as a substitute about ten minutes earlier. After making a couple of substitute appearances last season while scoring 9 goals in 19 games for Brugge’s reserve team in Belgium’s second tier, Saturday marked Campbell’s senior debut for the 2025-26 season.

Brugge next clashin a first leg duel with Scotland’s Rangers FC in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday before returning to domestic play against Westerlo next Saturday.
