Ethiopian Coffee take the Sheger Derby bragging rights after a convincing 2-0 win over bitter rivals Saint George in round 35 of the Ethiopian Premier League in Adama. The Browns scored in each half as they end the season as runners-up.
Ethiopian Coffee were the better side in the opening 30 minutes and took the lead through a free kick by Nigerian import Divine Nwachukwu. Nwachukwu sent in a low free kick that bounced in front of Horsemen goalkeeper Bahiru Negash.
Following the resumption, Coffee doubled their lead through left-back Amanuel Admasu. Admasu beat his marker and, with the help of a slight deflection, ensured Coffee secured the win.
Ethiopian Coffee are second with 59 points, while Saint George are seventh with 45 points. Coffee are unbeaten in the Sheger Derby in their last six meetings, and it has been three years since the record Ethiopian champions Saint George last defeated their arch-rivals.
