A couple weeks after helping Cape Verde secure their first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup, Sidny Cabral has now scored a hat-trick after boosting Estrela da Amadora to a 5-3 victory at Casa Pia in Portugal’s Primeira Liga on Saturday.

Lining up in a left midfield role for Estrela, he converted two penalty kicks before finishing off his hat-trick and the victory by cutting inside from the left wing and striking to make it 5-2 in favor of the visitors.

The versatile 22-year-old wide player, who had scored only three goals in his professional career before Saturday, doubled his career total with a remarkable performance that earned him Man of the Match honors and moved his club out of the relegation zone with the victory, overtaking Saturday’s opponents Casa Pia to move up to 13th position.

For his national team, Cabral only recently became a regular member of Cape Verde’s Blue Sharks but played a significant role in their World Cup qualification. He scored in a 3-3 draw at Libya that set the stage for the qualification-sealing victory at home against Eswatini on the final day and also assisted against Mauritius back early September.

The club based near Lisbon will return to action next Sunday when they host CD Nacional.
