Sierra Leone midfielder Samuel Bekoe raves about East End Lions capture of 2024-25 title

Sierra Leone midfielder, Samuel Bekoe is on cloud nine following East Lions capture of the 2024/25 Leone Rock Premier League trophy.

East End Lions won the title for the first time since 2019 – recording 69 points with a game to end the season and have already qualified for the 2025/26 CAF Champions League. Their last domestic game will be away to Kamboi on Saturday, August 23.

Bekoe, who played a key role leading to the club’s triumphant season, spoke to the media. “It means a lot not just for me but for our families, for our supporters. Everyone who came to support us, I think there is a very difficult task ahead” he told the media.

“Because we have been yearning for this trophy for a very long time, from 2019 since we won it and now by the grace of God we have won it again and I think it’s not going to stop here and this is a step ahead.

“We are planning on doing our best in [CAF] Champions League and the next season although I will not be part of the team I will throw my support for them and I know definitely in future [things will be fine].”

The 27-year-old will not be part of the club’s domestic and continental campaign next season where they have been paired against US Monastir of Tunisia in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. Bekoe has agreed a two-year deal to join sixteen time Guinea champions, Hafia ahead of next season’s football campaign.
