Silver Strikers FC coach Peter Mgangira has sent a clear message to TNM Super League leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets ahead of their game on Sunday in Blantyre.
The Super League leaders will travel some 400 kilometres from their base in Lilongwe to the commercial capital to face probably their toughest opponents in the Malawi local league. Bullets beat Silver 1-0 right in their backyard in the initial fixture.
However, Mgangira insisted that the 2025-2026 CAF Champions League participants expect to come out of Kamuzu Stadium with nothing short of three points.
“The boys look ready for the match come Sunday. We played on Thursday and got a good result [against Blue Eagles], and we are hopeful of getting maximum points from this one,” the coach told his club’s media.
“Yes, we are playing a good side led by a good coach. However, as we always say, we respect our opponents but we do not fear them. Therefore, we are geared ahead of this match, as we aim to reduce the gap on points up there. The only thing that I expect from the boys is that they will utilize the chances they get. This is a big game which does not give you numerous goal scoring opportunities. You just have to score from the few you get.”
Silver are in third place on the 16-member log table, seven points behind the leaders Bullets who have played one game more.
The defending champions are competing on all fronts. They are through to the next round of the Champions League after overcoming Elgeco Plus from Madagascar last week. The return to domestic action was also on a positive note as Silver beat Eagles 3-0 in the FDH Knockout Cup quarterfinal.
Earlier, Bullets coach Mponda, who led Silver to their first league title last season before rejoining Bullets, said he expected the Bankers to come for a revenge.
The former Flames captain insisted that despite expecting a difficult game against Silver, he was optimistic of getting a good result.
“We know Silver Strikers are the defending champions, and they will give us a tough game, but we believe that by the end of 90 minutes, we will carry the day,” the coach insisted.
The Bullets coach has a near full-strength squad save for attacker Chrispin Mapemba who is injured.
Another forward Peter Banda is yet to attain full fitness, but he is expected to have some minutes on Sunday.
