After winger Maxi Nzengeli was taken down in the penalty area, the in-form striker dispatched the resulting spot kick to make if five goals in his last five matches. The recent signing from Polish football scored two goals in Yanga’s 3-0 victory over Algerian club JS Kabylie last Sunday in the CAF Champions League but The Citizens were eliminated at the group stage.
In the final match from Sunday, Simba had no issues with hosts Tanzania Prisons in a 2-0 victory. Seleman Mwalimu headed in from a free kick in the 19th minute before former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rushine De Reuck converted a penalty kick just before halftime.

Both Dar es Salaam giants continue to climb up the table with plenty of games in hand on the teams above them. Young Africans are three points back of tentative leaders JKT Tanzania while Simba are three points back of their rivals in 4th place with a massive Kariakoo Derby between the two dominant clubs approaching on March 1.
Azam FC and Singida Black Stars each endured elimination from the group stage of the Confederation Cup but bounced back with league victories on Sunday as well. Iddy Nado scored twice in the second half as Azam secured a 2-0 victory at Kinondoni MC.

Receiving a short corner from fellow Tanzania national team member Feisal Salum, Nado fired in a low shot that ricocheted through a crowd of players to leave KMC goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora helpless in the 65th minute. Nine minutes earlier, Nado drew a foul outside the penalty area and then curled in an excellent free kick.
In the early match on Sunday, Singida Black Stars earned their second consecutive league victory with a 3-1 result at Mtibwa Sugar. Congolese attacker Malanga Horso Mwaku was among the scorers as the visitors cruised to a comfortable victory.
