Simba SC coach Matola praises players after ‘special’ Namungo FC win

Simba SC assistant coach Suleiman Matola has praised his players for a superb display that helped defeat a ‘special’ Namungo FC side 3-0 in their Tanzanian Premier League fixture at KMC Stadium on Wednesday.

The Msimbazi Reds scored the opener in the 44th minute when Chamou Karaboue headed home for a 1-0 lead at the half-time break. Two more goals in the second half courtesy of defender Rushine De Reuck in the 61st minute, and Selemani Mwalimu in the 84th minute sealed the emphatic victory for Simba.

Simba have secured back-to-back league wins

Having kicked off their campaign with a 3-0 win against Fountain Gate, Simba have now scored six goals and hauled six points. According to Matola, Simba’s focus is to maintain the good run heading into subsequent matches.

“We came looking for three points, they were very important for us, and I am happy we have won the game, the players did exactly what we wanted to get the win against a very special side,” Matola told Pan-Africa Football.

On back-to-back wins and scoring six goals in the process, managing to keep a clean sheet, Matola said: “It is a good start, when you manage to get six points, and six goals, it is a good start, and a good start we all wanted before the season kicked off.

“We now want to keep the good start going, we want to keep winning and see what happens at the end of the season.”

He concluded: “We created good chances in the first half, but we couldn’t score, we needed to work on our striking, and in the last minutes, we dropped our levels, we had scored three goals and felt it was good to change the winning side, and it is the reason for our performance.”

Namungo coach Juma Mgunda conceded defeat by saying: “We have lost, because we were playing against a team with quality players, and if you make mistakes, they will punish you. We repeated the same mistakes and got punished, and I take responsibility for the defeat because I am the coach.”

Simba’s next league fixture will be against Tabora United on October 30.
