Tanzania Mainland Premier League club Simba SC have come out strongly to dismiss rumours linking midfielder Elie Mpanzu leaving the club ahead of the new season.
Reports in Tanzania have indicated that Mpanzu, who signed for the Msimbazi Reds from AS Vita Club, was keen to leave the club. However, Simba’s Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, has made it clear that the Congolese-born star is staying with the team.
“There is no truth to the rumours. Mpanzu is happy, committed and very much part of our plans going forward,” Ahmed told Daily News. “He is a Simba player, and we have no plans to put him on the market. Mpanzu is not for sale; he will be part of the team’s plan for next season.”
Meanwhile, Simba President Mohammed ‘MO’ Dewji has held pivotal high level talks with head coach Fadlu Davids, signalling the start of an ambitious roadmap for the 2025/26 season.
“I am pleased to have had a meaningful discussion with Coach Fadlu in his first season, where he led a new squad and technical bench all the way to the CAF Confederation Cup final,” Dewji wrote after the meeting. “Indeed, Davids’ debut season was nothing short of a renaissance.
“Steering a team in transition, he managed to write history by guiding Simba to only their second continental final—a feat few predicted at the outset of the campaign. This season was all about building the team.
“Despite intense competition, we still managed to reach the final. That speaks volumes about the character and potential of this squad.”
