Singida Black Stars clear Amas Obasogie of match-fixing allegations

Tanzania Mainland Premier League club Singida Black Stars SC has exonerated goalkeeper Amas Obasogie of alleged match-fixing after completing an internal review into the matter.

The Nigerian international was suspended by Singida Black Stars in February for allegedly suspicious performances in three matches. These included a CAF Confederation Cup clash against Flambeau du Centre, as well as NBC Premier League fixtures against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC.

Singida investigation findings

After reviewing the incidents, considering the player’s defence, and receiving clarification from the club’s General Manager, the investigation found no evidence linking Obasogie to match-fixing.

Obasogie has now been reinstated and is free to resume his duties with Othmen Najjar’s side. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old has apologised for the circumstances that led to the suspicions and pledged to address the shortcomings identified in his performances to regain the confidence of supporters and stakeholders.

Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars last year after leaving Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema.
