NBC Premier League club Singida Black Stars SC has confirmed the suspension of Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie following allegations of involvement in match-fixing in the Tanzanian top flight.
The goalkeeper made a notable error late in Black Stars’ 1-1 draw at Namungo FC. A free kick into the penalty area was spilled by Obasogie, allowing Fabrice Ngoy to equalize for the hosts in second half stoppage time.
In a statement released on Friday, the club announced that Obasogie has been suspended for three months pending the conclusion of an investigation into the matter. Additionally, Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho has been handed a three-month suspension for acts of indiscipline and repeated absence from training.

The Singida-based outfit reminded all players and staff of their obligation to uphold discipline, accountability, and respect for the club’s values.
The match-fixing allegations have not yet been publicly substantiated, and no formal charges or detailed evidence have been released by the club or Tanzanian football authorities. The suspension is viewed as a precautionary measure to allow for a comprehensive inquiry.
Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 after leaving Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema. The 26-year-old shot-stopper was recently part of the Nigeira national team squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he served as the third goalkeeper behind incumbent Stanley Nwabali and backup Francis Uzoho.
