Simba SC midfielder Denis Kibu has praised Singida Black Stars for producing a tough game in their hardfought 1-0 Mainland Premier League win at Litti Stadium in Singida on Saturday.
The Wekundu wa Msimbazi were forced to dig deep in their last league fixture of 2024 and edge out Singida Black Stars. Congolese midfielder Fabrice Ngoma scored late in the first half to keep Simba at the top of the 16-team league table with their eighth consecutive victory in the league.
“I had a great game, I was out for one week, and the coach gave me the opportunity to play again after my return and I am happy to get the chance to play and help my team get three points,” Kibu told Pan-Africa Football.
“It was not an easy game, Singida is a big team, they have qualify players, players, who understand the league, players with experience, and if you look at table they are among the top five teams, so they deserve to be there (top five), they are not easy to break down, we had to fight and fight before getting the win.”
On finishing the Year at the top of the 16-team league table, Kibu said: “It amazing to achieve this, we really wanted to end the Year at the top. We are all happy, it was one of our main targets going into the Singida game, and we knew if we win, we stay at the top, and we did exactly that.”
Following the win, Simba extended their lead at the top over rivals Young Africans (Yanga SC) to four points. Simba will now turn their attention to the CAF Confederation Cup where they are engaged in a fierce battle to advance to the quarter-finals out of Group A.
