Kaizer Chiefs academy graduates Samkelo Zwane and Happy Mashiane have made a deadline-day loan switch to Betway Premiership side Siwelele FC, the Soweto giants confirmed.
The pair, who have yet to feature for Amakhosi this season, will spend the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign with the newly acquired club.
The move comes as a timely boost for both players, who have struggled for game time at Chiefs. Zwane, a 23-year-old defensive midfielder, is expected to add depth to Siwelele’s midfield, while Mashiane will bring much-needed versatility to the squad.
With Siwelele’s first-choice left back, Neo Rapoo, away at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Mashiane’s ability to play as a left back is particularly valuable. The 27-year-old winger will compete with Aphiwe Baliti for the position.

“With the transfer window in South Africa closing today, 22 September, Kaizer Chiefs have agreed to loan duo Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane to Siwelele FC for the remainder of the 2025/26 season,” said the Soweto giants on Tuesday.
“Both players are products of the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy. Mashiane, who plays at left-back and left-wing, brings valuable CAF Champions League experience, while Zwane is widely regarded as one of the most talented young midfielders in the country. Their loan spells are expected to offer the players much-needed game time.
“We wish both lads all the best for the rest of the season and look forward to welcoming them back to Naturena soon.”
For both players, this loan spell represents a crucial opportunity to revive their careers. Zwane, despite showing promise, made only 13 appearances last season for Amakhosi, and Mashiane’s struggles have been well-documented, with his career failing to fully recover since his red card in the 2021 CAF Champions League final.
In other transfer news, Siwelele also completed a free transfer for former Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa. However, the future of Kegan Johannes remains uncertain despite an initial loan announcement from Mamelodi Sundowns.
