Just two days before the start of the Betway Premiership season, Siwelele FC has announced the acquisition of four new players: Buhle Mkhwanazi, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Thabo Makhele, and Wayde Lekay.
“We are pleased to welcome Buhle Mkhwanazi, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Thabo Makhele and Wayde Lekay to the club ahead of the new season,” said the club on Thursday.
Former Bafana Bafana defender Mkhwanazi joins Siwelele after a two-year hiatus from professional football. His last club was SuperSport United, whose Premier Soccer League (PSL) status was recently sold to Siwelele.
Mkhwanazi joined SuperSport on a free transfer at the start of the 2021/22 season, following the sale of his previous club, Bidvest Wits, to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM). He departed SuperSport under controversial circumstances, citing a personal belief against the mandatory COVID-19 vaccine for players in the South African elite league at the time.

Central midfielder Relebogile Mokhuoane arrives at Siwelele after a stint with Sekhukhune United. The 30-year-old signed with Sekhukhune in July 2024 as a free agent after being released by the now-relegated Cape Town City FC. Last season, Mokhuoane made 20 appearances for Sekhukhune across all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist.
Defender Thabo Makhele, also 30, joins Siwelele from Chippa United, where he featured in 30 games across all competitions.
Striker Wayde Lekay returns to South Africa after playing for the Indian side Churchill Brothers. The former TS Galaxy player had a productive season abroad, making over 20 appearances and scoring 11 goals with four assists.

Siwelele FC also unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2025/26 season, with Macron as the official technical sponsor. The home kit pays homage to the green and white colours of Bloemfontein Celtic, while the away jersey is black and white.
Additionally, Jonsson Workwear, the former title sponsor for SuperSport United, will continue its sponsorship with Siwelele. The sponsorship logo will be prominently featured on the front of the new jerseys for the upcoming season, as part of a three-year deal originally signed with SuperSport in December 2022.
