Siwelele FC has completed a deadline-day deal for Mamelodi Sundowns defender Kegan Johannes, who joins the club on a season-long loan. The move comes as Siwelele aims to strengthen its squad amidst a dismal start to the 2025/26 season.
Johannes, a 24-year-old center-back, has struggled for regular playing time at Sundowns since his arrival in July 2024 from SuperSport United.
He has made just a handful of appearances for the defending champions, prompting this loan spell to seek more minutes on the field.
The acquisition of Johannes is part of a broader effort by Siwelele to turn their fortunes around. The club, which started the season with a promising 3-1 win over Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership, has since gone winless in six consecutive matches, leaving them in 15th place on the log.
This poor form has already led to significant changes, including the departure of CEO Stan Matthews and assistant coach Andre Arendse, with Lerato Kholoanyane and Willem Jackson stepping in as their replacements.
With the transfer window closing today, Siwelele rushed to finalize the deal, hoping Johannes can provide a much-needed defensive boost and help the team concede fewer goals.
