All 16 West African nations will assemble in Ghana for the maiden edition of the U-20 WAFU Zones A&B Boys Cup in June 2025.
The tournament’s current format will be a shift from its previous plan of grouping the region into Zone A and B which served as separate qualifying tournaments for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The new format will have an assemblage of all West African nations together in a single tournament aimed at fostering competitiveness and enhancing youth development. Ghana has been handed the hosting rights due to the successful organisation of the CAF African Schools Football Championship in April at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The competition is set between June 15 and 30 and will feature Cape Verde, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Mali, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Nigeria, Togo, and hosts Ghana.
Matches will be played at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with the finals set for the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
