Sofapaka CEO Ronald Okoth quits role in emotional farewell

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League side Sofapaka are in the market for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following the decision by Ronald Okoth to quit the role on Tuesday.

The former Western Stima player took up the role at Sofapaka in 2024 and went ahead to help the side keep their Premier League status, in a season they were headed for relegation.

During the campaign, Sofapaka were paired to face Naivas FC in the promotion playoff, winning both legs 2-0 to stay in the league. Okoth has now confirmed in a statement that he will not renew his contract with the club.

Here is the statement;

“I would like to formally announce that I have stepped down from my position as the CEO of Sofapaka following the expiry of my contract.

“It has been a great privilege and honour to lead this incredible club, and I want to take this moment to express my deepest appreciation to each of you.

I am truly grateful to our club president for believing in me, and to the entire management team, staff, coaches, and players, thank you for the trust, collaboration, and dedication we’ve shared during my time in this role.

“It has been an honour to work alongside such a committed and passionate team. Together, we’ve navigated challenges, achieved key milestones, and laid a strong foundation for the club’s future.

“Thank you for the support, teamwork, and shared commitment to the growth of this great club. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, both on and off the pitch. Although I will no longer be serving in the capacity of CEO, my journey with the club doesn’t end here.

“Sofapaka will always be home, and I will remain fully committed to supporting the club in every way I can, especially in assisting with ongoing strategic projects and initiatives we began together.

“Thank you to the fans and partners for your unwavering support. As I look ahead to new opportunities, I remain committed to the values and lessons gained during this chapter. Let’s keep pushing forward and supporting Sofapaka FC.”

Last season, Sofapaka finished seventh on the 18-team league table with 46 points from 34 matches.
