South Africa national team coach Molefi Ntseki is not ruling out his team returning home with the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy from East Africa.
Banyana Banyana, who have been drawn in Group C alongside Algeria, Guinea, Niger, and hosts Uganda, had their first training session in Kampala on Monday after the team arrived in the capital city on Sunday, and his charges, who had started the camp under chilly winter conditions in Johannesburg, had to adapt to the warm and tropical weather climate in this East African country.
“Playing a warm-up match against Angola (2025 COSAFA Cup Champions) helped us to profile our team after just three training sessions,” said Nteski as quoted by SABC Sports.
“This team is capable of something special. Our players have quality and maturity, having played in the PSL for many years, and some of them have played for the national team before.”
Bafana, who will be based in Kampala during the group stages of the tournament, play their first game against Algeria on Friday.
