Ghana’s senior men’s team have been buoyed by Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams ahead of the match day 8 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali.
The Black Stars quest to stretch their lead in Group I to 18 points was pegged back by 1-1 draw against Chad in N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4.
The four-time African champions shot ahead with Jordan Ayew in the first half but a late equalizer by Celestin Ecua shattered the Black Stars.
Ghana face Mali on match day 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday September 8 and Kofi Adams has urged the players to go all out.
“I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around,” he said during his visit to the team.
Ghana will be chasing g a fifth World Cup appearance and a win against Mali will drive them closer to Canada, USA and Mexico next year.
They sit top of Group I on 16 points, three better than Madagascar wirh Mali and Comoros sharing 12 points apiece.
Central Africa Republic have five points and Chad earned their first point after holding Ghana to a 1-1 draw at home.
