The Uganda Cranes landed in Algeria ahead of their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier scheduled for Tuesday, 14th October 2025.
The team held their first training session on Sunday, 12th October, as preparations ramp up for what promises to be a thrilling and high-stakes encounter.
After securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Botswana in Francistown, the Cranes remain buoyant and determined to end their qualifying campaign on a positive note. Forward Jude Ssemugabi, who netted the match-winner against Botswana, expressed the team’s confidence and unity ahead of the clash.
“What I have to say is that we are in good shape. Everybody in camp is focused and ready for the next game,” Ssemugabi said. “We’ve followed all the coaches’ programmes and training sessions, and we promise Ugandans that we’ll work hard to win this game. We just need your support in this final push.”
Fellow forward Uche Mubiru echoed similar sentiments, describing the fixture as a defining moment in his career and a chance for Uganda to make history.
“We have an opportunity to qualify for the World Cup, and this will definitely be one of the biggest games of my career,” Mubiru shared. “I believe we have the quality to win — we’ve got great players and a united spirit. Pressure is a privilege, and we’re ready to embrace it to create something special for the country.”
With qualification hopes still alive, Uganda will go all out against Algeria, aiming to build on their recent success and take a significant step toward realizing the nation’s long-held World Cup dream.
