The Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan will undergo an upgrade to its playing field. The stadium hosted ten matches during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, including the third-place playoff between South Africa and DR Congo.
The Ivorian government has scheduled the facelift to take place over a two-week period, during which league matches in the stadium will be suspended. Although the 33,000-seat stadium underwent major renovations between 2020 and 2023 in preparation for AFCON, this latest upgrade is specifically focused on improving the quality of the playing surface.
The upgrade work commenced on Sunday, May 5. Initial findings have shown that the lawn performed well. ASEC Mimosas uses the stadium alongside derby rivals Africa Sports. The Ivory Coast national team has also used the venue for qualifying matches.
