Stade Rennais have given an update on the future of manager and former Senegal international, Habib Beye.

The Ligue 1 outfit confirmed the dismissal of Habib Beye following a run of four straight losses and a reported growing tensions with senior players in the squad.

Beye, 48, joined Rennes in June 2025, replacing Argentine Jorge Sampaoli until the end of the season with an option to extend for another term.

In a press release on Monday, February 9, Stade Rennais stated that Habib Beye has been relieved of his position alongside his backroom staff.

“Stade Rennais F.C. has initiated proceedings against its head coach Mr. Habib Beye and his assistants Messrs. Olivier Saragaglia, Sébastien Bichard, and Yann Cavezza.

“Pending the forthcoming decision, the professional team’s training sessions will be overseen by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre, and Maxime Le Marchand until further notice.”
The former Newcastle United defender’s contract was due to expire in June but the development means he is leaving the club earlier than expected.

In the interim, first-team training will be supervised by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand. He leaves Rennes in 6th position on 31 points from 21 league games.

There are reports that former OG Nice and Len manager Franck Haise, formerly of Lens and Nice, is set to take over as Rennes’ new head coach.
