Tunisia Ligue 1: Stade Tunisien shutout Esperance

Stade Tunisien made a statement on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over defending champions Esperance ST in their Tunisia Ligue 1 Professionnelle clash.

In a spirited match at the Stade Hédi-Enneifer in a Tunis derby, ST came out on top courtesy of a first half strike from Mohamed Khemissi. The attacker volleyed in and excellent strike after Amadou N’Diaye’s cross was kicked into the air by Esperance goalkeeper Bechir Ben Saïd.

The match winner arrived towards the end of the first half after Esperance had a potential goal disallowed by VAR. Youcef Belaïli appeared to win a penalty kick after a dribble run down the right wing, but the Algerian was judged to have pushed a defender.

The physical play continued but ST did just enough to hold off the Blood and Gold and maintain an undefeated record through give matches. Saturday’s victory also served as revenge for EST’s victory in the Super Cup final to kick off the 2025-26 season.

Elsewhere, Etoile du Sahel found a late equalizer to draw US Monastir 1-1. Raki Aouani helped visitors ESS save a point after promising forward Raed Chikhaoui gave USM the lead. CA Bizertin won at US Ben Guerdane to join fellow victors JS Kairouan and AS Soliman from Friday’s matches.
