Nigerian senior men’s national team and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali is a major doubt for Super Eagles upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa due to injury.
Nwabali who has been Nigeria’s undisputed number one since his heroics at the 2023 Africa Cup ofNations, sustained an injury while in action for hisSouth African club, Chippa United, and was stretchered off the pitch in the 35th minute of Tuesdaynight’s Premier Soccer League match against RichardsBay.
The 29-year-old now faces a race against time to regain his fitness as Nigeria faces crucial qualifying matches against Amavubi on September 6 and Bafana Bafanaon September 10.
Super Eagles are currently fourth in Group C, and will need all hands on deck to secure maximum points in these decisive fixtures.mNwabali was named in Nigeria’s 31-man provisional squad for the crucial qualifiers last week.
Adebayo Adeleye, Amas Obasogie and EbenezerHarcourt are the other goalkeepers included in the squad.
