Espérance marched to a commanding 4-0 victory on Thursday in league action against newly promoted Tunisia Ligue 1 Professionnelle side JS Kairouan.
Youcef Belaïli was in fine form for the reigning Tunisian champions, setting up Onuche Ogbelu’s opening goal before producing a beautiful curling finish to double EST’s lead by the half hour mark.
Achraf Jabri completed a dominant first half with his stoppage time goal before Belaïli set up Brazilian attacker Yan Sasse to finish an unkind introduction to top flight football for hosts JSK. After drawing their opening two games, it appears that the Blood and Gold are beginning to find their form.
There were no more goals in the other two games from Thursday. AS Soliman held Stade Tunisien to a scoreless draw and it was the same between hosts US Ben Guerdane and Etoile du Sahel.
League action continues on Friday with five games. Last season’s runners-up US Monastir host Olympique Béja while Club Africain take on ES Zarzis.
