Gotham temporarily suspended Nyamekye’s loan in January to invite her to pre-tournament preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in London before possibly returning to Fort Lauderdale after the tournament.
Nyamekye, who made 14 appearances during the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season, leaves the club after her superlative performance helped Fort Lauderdale collect 19 points mid-way through the campaign.
Nyamekye who joined Fort Lauderdale on loan made her first appearance as a substitute in the club’s second match of the season where they drew a 2-2 against Carolina Ascent FC on August 30.
The Black Queens midfielder went on to make 12 starts with two substitute appearances. The club wished her well on her return to Gotham FC.
“Fort Lauderdale United FC thanks Stella for her contributions and professionalism during her time with the club and wishes her the best in her future endeavors.”
Stella Nyamekye was a member of Ghana’s team that won bronze at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco and she is expected to play a part when the team returns for the 2026 edition in the same country next month.
