Ghanaian coach James Kwasi Appiah has extended his contract with Sudan’s national men’s football team for the next three years. The announcement was made earlier this week on Tuesday.
Kwasi Appiah first signed for the Falcons of Jediane in 2023, helping to transform the side into a formidable force on the continent.
The former Ghana left-back succeeded in leading Sudan to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, a feat that prompted the Northeast African nation to prolong their marriage with Kwasi Appiah.
Sudan’s qualification for the 2025 AFCON included a victory over Ghana, marking their return to the tournament after missing out on the last edition in Ivory Coast.

Sudan have been drawn in Group E for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso. The tournament begins on December 21 and will run until January 18.
Appiah previously led Ghana at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and returned for a second spell from 2017 to 2019.
His coaching experience includes stints at former club Asante Kotoko of Ghana, Al Khartoum of Sudan, with spells at Ghana’s U-23 and the senior teams. He led Ghana’s U-23 team to the 2011 All Africa Games title in Maputo, Mozambique.
