Newly promoted English Premier League side Sunderland has completed the signing of Moroccan winger Chemsdine Talbi on a four‑year deal. The Belgium‑born player arrives after rising to prominence with Belgian side Club Brugge, who received a €20 million fee from Sunderland for Talbi’s services.
Born in Sambreville, the 20‑year‑old right winger came through a host of Belgian youth sides before settling in at Club Brugge. Talbi enjoyed a superb season in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, contributing seven goals and five assists. Sunderland declined to state the transfer fee, but The Guardian reported that the club paid £19.5 million for Talbi’s services.
Upon completion of his transfer, Talbi told the club’s official media that he had made his decision based on the project’s promise:
Talbi represented Belgium at under‑17 level but opted to play for Morocco in March 2025. If his performances remain excellent, he is expected to earn a senior Atlas Lions call‑up in the coming months.
