Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies stars Nthabiseng Majiya and Andile Dlamini have described their nominations for the CAF Awards as an inspiration to up-and-coming footballers.
Majiya, the Young Player of the Year award nominee, told Sundowns website that her nomination was an achievement on its own.
“Being nominated motivates me to push even harder, not just for myself but for my teammates and everyone who supports me. This nomination also inspires other kids to believe in themselves and work hard to achieve their dreams,” the striker is quoted saying.
The Sundowns forward is among the leading scorers with 14 goals in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season in South Africa.
On the other hand, Dlamini said she was motivated to earn the nomination for the second successive year in the Best Goalkeeper award section.
“I am inspired every day to do more because, as an African and a South African, I have a huge responsibility to inspire the next generation. This nomination is truly a motivation to keep going and continue striving for excellence both on and off the field,” the Banyana Banyana shot-stopper said.
Overall, the South African side has been shortlisted for the Club-of-the-Year accolade.
The awards gala will take place in Morocco on December 16, 2024.
