Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has commented on his limited game-time this season amid reports that he could be sold.

He said this after his impactful performance in the 2-1 win over AS Maniema Union in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday.

The Namibian came off the bench to score the 83rd-minute equalizer and cancel out AS Maniema Union’s Jephté Kitambala’s goal at the half-hour mark of the CAF Champions League Group B match.

The equalizer paved the way for Sundowns’ comeback at Stade de Martyrs where the hosts eventually scored an own goal.

Commenting on his goal, the Brave Warriors player said: “It is all about how they pushed up. I felt the space was behind their defenders. Every time they got the ball, they wanted to push up and that is when I saw the spaces. I attacked and that is how I scored the first goal.”

He admitted that the humid conditions at the Kinshasa venue made life difficult for the Betway Premiership champions. “It was very difficult. The heat. The stadium was humid. I give credit to the guys. They dug deep,” Shalulile added.

He added that he was not concerned about his lack of enough playing time this season.

“It is about putting in the hard work. It is not easy, but there is always a reward. Stay focused and stay positive. It doesn’t matter how many minutes you get. As long as you get a chance, take advantage of those minutes,” he added.

Media reports suggest that the South African giants are willing to sell the award-winning PSL forward who has managed two goals in 10 games this season. Coach Miguel Cardoso has of late been starting with Iqraam Rayners as Sundowns main striker.
