Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango has promised that Mamelodi Sundowns will do their best at the FIFA Club World Cup.
The award-winning custodian said this in reaction to a goodwill message from a betting company back home in Uganda.
The company, GSB, issued a special message to the former Cranes number one and the Betway Premiership defending champions’ squad ahead of the tournament in the United States.
GSB’s brief message reads: “On behalf of Ugandans 🇺🇬, we would like to wish our very own @masindeonyango and his club, Mamelodi Sundowns, all the best in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. How do you assess Group F?”
Moved by such a gesture, the former SuperSport United keeper showed appreciation via X, saying: “I am so humbled, @GSB_Uganda. We shall do our very best.”
Onyango and Sundowns’ teammates are already in America ahead of the Club World Cup.
Sundowns will face Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, Brazilian giants Fluminense, and Ulsan HD from South Korea at the Club World Cup. The tournament, now to take place every four years, is scheduled for the United States from 15 June to 13 July 2025.
