Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has evolved her footballing status as she has taken a step towards a coaching career.
The Al-Ittihad captain completed her UEFA B coaching course making her eligible to be a gaffer.
Confirming her status and coaching license Plumptre full of appreciation and gratitude thanked all who helped her desire come true “Grateful to have my UEFA B Coaching Licence completed. Thank you to all of those who facilitated me with my sessions both in the UK and at Gittihadclub.sa!”
The 27 year old has been an integral member of the nine-time African champions since her debut in 2022, which came after switching allegiance from England, the country she represented at the youth level.
However, the Nigerian defender wasn’t called up for the recent friendly games against Cameroon, although finishing the 2024-2025 Saudi Women’s Premier League season, with 1 goal and 1 assist in the national cup after three games.
Plumptre also made a huge career decision moving from Leicester City in the English Women’s Super League (WSL) to the Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia after her exploits with the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
With the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) approaching, her experience in the defensive position will be needed as she continues to add more certificates to her Curriculum Vitae (CV), similar to her national team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade.
