Super Falcons to face Black Queens after Portugal friendly

Nigeria's Super Falcons are set to take on the Black Queens of Ghana in an yet another international friendly in Morocco ahead of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).


The fixture against Ghana is scheduled to come after Nigeria’s upcoming friendly against Portugal in Lisbon.


This friendly is set to provide head coach Justine Madugu another opportunity to build his squad chemistry ahead of the continental championship.


Reports have it that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have confirmed the friendly, which will take place in Morocco.


The Super Falcons are expected to move to Morocco after their Portugal outing, where they will round off preparations for the tournament that kicks off on July 5.



Nigeria is placed in Group B with Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana. The nine-time champions are targeting a record extending 10th WAFCON title, having last lifted the trophy in Ghana in 2018.


Meanwhile, Ghana’s squad, drawn into Group C alongside South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania, arrived on Tuesday, June 17 to begin their pre-tournament camp.


Details of the Nigeria-Ghana match, including the exact date, venue, and squad list, are expected to be announced in the coming days.
