Süper Lig: Emmanuel Agbadou heads Beşiktaş to victory

Emmanuel Agbadou’s header early in the second half made the difference for Beşiktaş in a 1-0 Turkish Süper Lig victory over Kocaelispor on Saturday.

The Ivorian defender contorted his body excellently to get on the end of a Václav Černý corner kick and place his header just beyond the reach of Kocaelispor goalkeeper Gokhan Degirmenci in the 52nd minute.

The Istanbul club have now won three consecutive matches in league action to secure a strong hold on fourth place, five points back of third place Trabzonspor.

Kocaelispor, newly promoted to the top flight, continue to impress in eighth place and the hosts presented a difficult riddle for the Turkish powerhouse to solve. Neither team was able to put a shot on target in a first half stalemate.

But Agbadou provided the moment of brilliance, continuing his strong start to life at the club since arriving from Premier League club Wolves. The powerful center back did his part on the defensive end with eight clearances while winning the majority of his duels.
