Former SuperSport United defender, Richard Kissi-Boateng has urged the club to invest in recruitment to help them compete with the big boys next season.
The Trendsetters escaped relegation by a whisker in their last game of the season against Golden Arrows on Thursday May 29. Kissi-Boateng, who signed for SuperSport in 2012 for five-seasons, spoke to Pan-Africa Football.
“If they want to achieve the level of Mamelodi Sundowns, I am sure they know what to do,” Kissi Boateng told Pan Africa Football. “Because they have given a lot of opportunities to young players to showcase their talents and if they want to achieve the level of Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns then they have to do a lot of investment.
“SuperSport is one of the best organized clubs in South Africa and I know they have their ways to achieve success because I’ve not been in Sundowns or Kaizer Chiefs but if it comes to a well-organized team, SuperSport is one of them.
“They plan for the future and I know that if they want to achieve success, they know what to do.”
The fixture between SuperSport and Arrows on February 23 was postponed as at 1-1 due to power outage at the Lucas Moripe Stadium and the rescheduled clash started in the second half which ended in 1-1.
The result sent SuperSport into 14th on the table with 27 points, the same as Cape Town City but a superior goal difference of minus twelve ensured City will engage in the relegation play-off.
