SuperSport United coach Arendse: "We don’t have time to focus on too many things... we have to win games"

SuperSport United interim coach Andre Arendse says his team needs to convert scoring chances to survive relegation, as there is no time to focus on 'too many things' in the Betway Premiership.

Arendse said this in a post-match interview with SuperSport Television after a hard-fought goalless draw on Sunday evening against Cape Town City who are also staring relegation in the face.

“It was a good game to watch. It did look like neither wanted to lose which is fair given the situation we are in. I saw a team that wanted to play—comfortable on the ball and we found the passing range. The little things,” he said.

The Bafana Bafana legend said while he was encouraged that SuperSport United are creating scoring chances, the sooner they start converting them the better as there is no time.

“We have a squad of players who can play but we have to convert those chances. I can be happy that we are creating them, which is good to see, but we have to convert. I believe in the ability of the boys because they showed that again tonight. I think it is just a matter of time before we start winning games,” the goalkeeper coach added.

“There is never enough time. We are in a situation where we don’t have time to focus on too many things right now. We have to win games and I have to figure out how to win football games. There is not too much we need to fix based on the evidence of tonight. We are a step closer to winning football games.”

Arendse is holding fort at the Pretoria-based club following the sacking of Gavin Hunt just before the recent international football window due to a string of poor results.

The fifth draw of the season saw SuperSport United remain second from the bottom, 14 points away from basement side Royal AM, whose status remains in question due to financial and legal issues.
