SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt has labeled the South African team's critics idiots.
Hunt said this during a pitch-side post-match interview with SuperSport presenter Carol Tshabalala on Saturday evening after a one-all draw with Stellenbosch FC in a league match.
"A lot of the critics criticize us in the media. I saw it, it was unbelievable, some idiot making statements about us, but I am proud of the players and they are really good," he said. Hunt said his team played well although the strikers could not bury the many chances attributing this to the fact that some of the players are young and have not reached their peak yet.
“We played well; some good football at times. We had some great chances but we could not score and that has been our story all season.…our strikers could have scored two or three goals each,” Hunt added.
Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker, whose team lies fourth in the standings on the same amount of points with sixth-placed SuperSport, described the result as a fair result to both teams. SuperSport took the lead courtesy of Tashreeq Morris’ 30th-minute header before Jayden Adams pulled the visitors level with a well-worked goal in a similar fashion in the 71st minute.
