Malawian Tabitha Chawinga scored to hand visiting Olympique Lyonnais Women a hard-fought 1-0 victory over his former employers Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) women’s team on Sunday.
The Scorchers captain swept a hard-and-low angled shot away from the PSG goalkeeper’s reach in the 23rd minute to stun the home crowd in the French capital.

The Malawian has now scored six goals in 10 appearances in the Division 1 Feminine.
Reaction via her Facebook page, Chawinga wrote: “Some goals mean more…three points and we keep moving. Familiar badge. Same goal. Goal Delivered.”
The goal for the Women Africa Cup of Nations-bound star sent Lyonnais 12 points clear at the summit of the Division One Feminine League after round 14 of games.
Nantes occupy second place with 28 points from 14 games, while PSG lie in fifth place 17 points behind the leaders.

The Scorchers skipper arrived in France two years ago to start a new lease of life with PSG on loan after joining from Wuhan FC in China.
She had rejoined the Chinese Women’s Super League outfit from a very successful loan spell with Inter Milan in the 2023 season.
Lyonnes signed the Malawian on a three-year contract from PSG in the 2025 season.
