Taiwo Awoniyi wins Nottingham Forest’s Goal of the Month

Taiwo Awoniyi has been awarded the January Goal of the Month award for English Premier League club Nottingham Forest.

​The Nigeria international won the award for his clinical strike in Forest’s 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on January 25. Awoniyi received a pass from Morgan Gibbs-White and drove into the Brentford box before firing a low shot into the net.

​It was the 28-year-old’s first goal of the season for the “Tricky Trees” since returning from a life-threatening abdominal injury suffered last year. The strike was selected from a shortlist of seven nominated goals.

​Awoniyi has made eight league appearances for Forest this season as he continues his return to full fitness.
