Tanzania determined to make AFCON history – Samatta

Tanzania captain Mbwana Samatta says they are not fazed by the prospect of facing giants at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco.

The striker made the remarks ahead of Tanzania’s crunch opener against Nigeria at Fez Stadiums in Rabat on Tuesday. The action will start at 8:30pm East Africa Time.

Samatta told The Citizen newspaper of Tanzania that he was aware that they are considered underdogs in Group C which also comprises Tunisia and Uganda.

“Many football fans say we are in a very tough group, and that is true,” the former TP Mazembe star said.

“But if you want to achieve something meaningful at AFCON, you must be ready to face strong teams. There are no easy matches at this level,” he said.
