Tanzania midfielder Charles M’Mombwa signs for Floriana FC in Malta

Floriana FC have confirmed the signing of Tanzanian international Charles M’Mombwa as the club’s seventh addition ahead of the 2025/26 Maltese Premier League campaign.

The 27-year-old central midfielder joins the Maltese giants from Australian side Newcastle Jets, where he featured for six months between January and June this year. Despite the short stint, M’Mombwa left an impression in the A-League Men, adding to a career tally of over 90 top-flight appearances.

A statement from the club confirmed the arrival of the Taifa Stars player; “Floriana FC is pleased to announce its seventh signing ahead of the 2025/26 season — Tanzanian international midfielder Charles M’Mombwa.

“The 27-year-old joins from Newcastle Jets in Australia’s A-League Men, bringing with him over 90 appearances across top-flight competitions. M’Mombwa has also made nine appearances for the Tanzania national team, featuring in World Cup qualifiers, the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, and has competed in both the AFC Cup and the Australia Cup.

“We welcome Charles to the Floriana FC family and look forward to seeing his energy and experience in green and white.”

Floriana is a Maltese professional football club in the town of Floriana that currently plays in the Maltese Premier League. Considered one of the most supported and successful clubs in Maltese football, Floriana has won 26 national leagues and 21 FA trophies.
