Bundesliga: Tapsoba shines as Bayer Leverkusen cruise past St. Pauli

Edmond Tapsoba scored in Bayer Leverkusen’s big win over St. Pauli in their Week 22 game from the German Bundesliga. The Burkina Faso international was on target for the first time since November 2025.

Die Werkself are on the hunt for a UEFA Champions League spot next season and they delivered a statement win at home over a struggling St. Pauli side. Tapsoba headed home from close range after a good delivery from Aleix Garcia moments after the recess. He put up a superb performance during the encounter, winning all of his aerial duels and recording a 94% passing accuracy.

Jarell Quansah and Patrick Schick gave Leverkusen the lead in the first half before Ernest Poku wrapped up the win in the 78th minute. Tapsoba, 27, has scored his fourth league goal of the season. The center-back missed some games during the 2025 African Cup of Nations, but still remains an integral part of Leverkusen.

Bayer Leverkusen are fourth with 39 points as they continue their fight for a Champions League place.
