The Serie A club has confirmed the capture of the versatile wingback on a four-year contract after paying Brighton a reported transfer fee of €6 million.

Brighton have since released a statement paying tribute to the Black Stars’ regular for his contribution to the Premier League team. In the statement, Brighton coach Fabian Hürzeler thanked Lamptey for his time with the club.

“He’s been a valued player throughout his time, but more than that he is a brilliant professional and person. This is a good opportunity for him to play both Serie A and European football. On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to wish him all the very best for the future,” the coach said.

The 24-year-old is a product of Chelsea FC’s academy but eventually left to pursue his professional football career with Brighton after making three appearances with Chelsea’s senior team during the 2019-20 season.

The former England under-21 international spent five seasons with the Seagulls while making 122 appearances, scoring 5 goals and providing 12 assists across all competitions including the Premier League.

Lamptey was born in London hence and initially represented the Three Lions of England but opted to switch to the country of his parents, Ghana. He has been capped eleven times for the Black Stars and played in two games for Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
