Nigerian international Terem Moffi has officially expressed his profound satisfaction and immense pride in representing Portuguese giants FC Porto.
The Super Eagles striker, who secured a high-profile move to the Estádio do Dragão during the January transfer window, has already begun making his mark in the Primeira Liga.
Since arriving on loan from Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, the dynamic forward has already opened his goal-scoring account for the Dragons, signalling a seamless transition into Portuguese football during his first few weeks at the club.
Speaking during the pre-match press conference ahead of FC Porto’s crucial UEFA Europa League showdown against Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart, Moffi emphasised his desire to contribute significantly to the team’s collective progress this season. The 26-year-old was quick to categorise the move as a defining milestone in his professional journey.
“I feel immense pride in representing a club of FC Porto’s stature. This is a massive moment for me personally and a very proud milestone for my family as well,” Moffi remarked.
Reflecting on the internal atmosphere under the current technical setup, the striker echoed the sentiments of his manager regarding the squad’s harmony. “As the manager highlighted, there is a very positive energy within the group and absolutely no negativity. Our objective is to remain completely focused. We must maintain that hunger to play, that drive to improve, and function as a true family unit. That is exactly why we have been putting in such intensive work over the last few days and weeks.”
Addressing the weight of expectation that comes with wearing the blue and white stripes, he added: “When we are called upon to intervene on the pitch, it is because the manager and the club have placed their total trust in us. We have done our part; perhaps we were slightly unlucky not to score more or secure certain wins recently, but we aren’t dwelling on the past. Our focus is strictly on the present and delivering a result in today’s game.”
Moffi also took the opportunity to highlight the tactical influence of head coach Francesco Farioli. He explained how the Italian tactician’s meticulous approach is currently refining the squad’s overall performance and his own individual game.
“It really comes down to the mastery of the small details. It’s about the quality of the touch, identifying the exact right moment to appear in space, and perfecting your timing,” Moffi explained. “As a professional player, those specific details are what differentiate you from the rest of the pack. That is precisely what the coach has been implementing and perfecting over the last two or three years, and we are seeing the benefits of that philosophy now.”
