Chippa United coach Thabo September has announced he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of next month.
September's confirmation follows reports suggesting his departure was due to an alleged refusal to be demoted to the reserve team to accommodate a new head coach.
The SuperSport United legend joined Chippa United in December 2023, serving as co-coach alongside former head coach Kwanele Kopo.
In an interview with Putco Mafani on Umhlobo Wenene, September stated that his contract is set to expire in June, and he believes the club needs to advance.
He confirmed discussing his future with the Chippa chairman, Siviwe Chippa Mpengesi, who presented him with options, but September chose to pursue a different project.
"My contract expires in June, and the club has to go to the next level," said September "We had a talk with the chairman, and they gave me options, but I have a project that I need to get on.
“So, yeah, the contract was ending and there was an option not only to DDC but an option to work for any department in the club, but I think the time for me to leave the club has come."
September was at the helm for 19 matches at the Chilli Boys after taking over from Kopo in late December last year. During his tenure, he secured five wins and five draws.
