Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has emphatically backed teammate Lucas Ribeiro to win the coveted PSL Player of the Season award.
Zwane's endorsement comes after Ribeiro's "masterclass" performances throughout the current season, which saw him finish the Betway Premiership campaign with an impressive 16 goals and nine assists.
Zwane isn't alone in his high praise for the Brazilian forward. Ribeiro's exceptional contributions have also earned accolades from prominent figures, including Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso, and fellow Sundowns star Marcelo Allende.
“Guys, that’s obvious," said Zwane when asked about the player who deserves to be crowned the Betway Premiership Player of the Season.
“I think it's Ribeiro, you can see how he helped the team, and he did wonders this season, we must give him, we must give it to him, he deserves it.
“I think you can agree with me, is there anyone disagreeing? Zwane Asked.
Having already secured their eighth consecutive league title in the domestic season, Sundowns now turn their attention to continental glory.
In the next two weekends, the Brazilians will compete in the CAF Champions League final against Egyptian side Pyramids FC, where Ribeiro is expected to be a pivotal figure in their quest for a second Champions League star.
His remarkable season has him all but guaranteed to claim the Golden Boot award, having netted 16 goals in the Betway Premiership.
