Hosts Egypt secured a vital 1-0 victory over Tanzania in the fourth round of the group stage at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The win was enough to send the Pharaohs through to the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed teams.
After the match, Egypt goalkeeper Abdelmonem Tamer expressed his satisfaction with the result, saying:
"Thank God, this is a very important win. As I said before, this is the beginning of the story — it’s not over yet. Our next match is going to be very tough. We approached today’s game as if it was a Round of 16 knockout match."
He added: "The next game is very important, and today’s victory is a blessing from God. It was a really tough match, and the key was entering the game with full respect for our opponent."
Egypt will now face Ghana in the quarterfinals on May 12 at 3:00 PM GMT, at Suez Stadium.
